Ride Free on the Golden Gate Bridge
No toll for bicyclists and pedestrians
In 1998, 2001 and 2005, the Marin County Bicycle Coalition and the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition fought against the possibility of a bicycle and pedestrian toll being proposed on the Golden Gate Bridge. We’re very pleased to announce that for the next five years, the possibility of a bike/ped toll is “off the table” from the menu of fundraising strategies that the District is exploring to reduce their $87 million five-year budget deficit.
The MCBC is grateful to the District staff and Board for their choice to allow bicyclists and pedestrians to continue cross the bridge without a toll.
