Director Candidate Statement Instructions

A Candidate for election as a Director must be an “Active” dues-paying member of the MCBC (as per Bylaws Article V., Section 4) as of the election date, and must submit a Director Candidate Statement by the posted annual due date. The statement must be written in Times New Roman text, size 12 font, single-spaced; text must fit on one half of an 8 ½” x 11” page formatted with 1” margins on all sides of the page. Statements may also include one photograph of the Candidate’s face. The online ballot includes the photo (in color if provided); the printed ballot is black and white and does not include the photo.

Each Director Candidate can include an identifying title, such as Bicycle Advocate, Member of [Entity], Incumbent (restricted to elected Directors), etc. If a Director was appointed by the Board of Directors but not elected since the appointment, he/she will be identified with the title ‘Appointed’ in place of Incumbent. If a Director is an Officer, he/she can be identified with Incumbent (or Appointed)/[Officer Name].

At the annual meeting, each Candidate will have 3 minutes to make a presentation in the sequence they are listed on the Ballot. The presentation can replicate the Candidate’s Statement, or not. If a Candidate is not present, he/she may designate an MCBC member (excluding the Executive Director) to make the presentation by informing Election Inspector Don Magdanz at don(at)olsinc.com or (415) 258-0242; otherwise, the candidate will not have a presentation.
