GET READY FOR NATIONAL BIKE MONTH
Two Bicycle Workshops Offered On May 6

Has your bike been collecting dust or sitting around with a flat tire this past year? Are you afraid to let your kids ride their bikes without you? Let MCBC help transform your bicycling experience – come learn new skills with MCBC instructor Frances Barbour-Hayden.

  1. Learn to teach your children how to ride safely near traffic:

Attend the “How to Ride with Youth” workshop and learn fun ways to teach your children how to use their bikes in traffic. Get a head start in teaching them how to drive. This will not be a strenuous ride, but bring water and snacks along with your bike. Be prepared for varying weather conditions. The age range is 9 to adult. Cost is $15/adult or $30/family. Class size is limited. The class will be held in the parking lot on Center Blvd. in Fairfax, across from the Fairfax Post Office (near the Java Hut). The workshop will be held from 9 AM to noon.

  2. Prepare for Bike to Work Day by learning the basics of bicycle commuting:

“Bicycle Commuting 101” will be offered the same day from 1:30 to 3:00 PM. Don’t let Bike to Work Day sneak up on you. This hands-on adult-oriented workshop will demonstrate bike commuting options and solutions. Learn about safety, visibility, route planning and simple accessories necessary – all to make your rides more enjoyable. The age range is 15 to adult and the cost is $20/person. Class size is limited. The class will be held in the plaza area (between Sunshine Bicycle Center and China Village Restaurant) of the Fair-Anselm Plaza on Center Blvd. in Fairfax.
