Dear Governor Schwarzenegger:

I am writing to urge you to sign AB 748 which would prohibit the possibility of bicycle or pedestrian tolls within California.

The State of California should take a strong stand to encourage active transportation. Walking and bicycling do more to protect our environment and improve public health than any other form of transportation. Like other fuel efficient alternate modes of transportation, such as bus and ferry transportation, walking and bicycling reduce traffic congestion and vehicle emissions. In addition, bicycling and walking provide the kind of physical activity necessary to fight the growth in obesity, diabetes, and asthma throughout California.

AB 748 will encourage Californian's to take advantage of the cheapest modes of transportation possible, and ensure that they are not penalized for cutting down on traffic and harmful pollution.

Include a personal statement, if possible, on why you support bicycling and walking.

Thank you for your leadership in being a strong advocate for healthy living, physical activity and public safety. Please support AB 748 by signing the bill into law, and taking a stand that California encourages walking and bicycling.
