Saturday, May 20 th: Volunteers needed to help with the ride and party

On Saturday, May 20th, the public is invited to a special MCBC-led bicycle tour and party, wrapping up Bike to Work Week in style.  The ride will showcase plans and progress for Marin’s North-South Greenway, a multi-use pathway that will parallel Highway 101 along the former Northwestern Pacific (NWP) railroad right-of-way.

This free bicycle ride begins at 12 noon at the corner of A St. and Andersen behind Safeway Store in San Rafael.  The ride will end with a party at approximately 4 PM in downtown in Mill Valley at the WTB (Wilderness Trail Bikes) headquarters at 475 Miller Avenue.  The party will include food and drinks and last until 6 PM.  Visit the MCBC website (http://www.marinbike.org/Events/NS-Greenway-2006/) for details about timing, pre-rides to San Rafael, and the locations of stops along the North-South Greenway Tour.  All riders must wear a helmet.

Volunteers are needed for many tasks to help MCBC with the bike ride and party. Volunteer tasks include: making phone calls, picking up supplies for the party, running the sound system, helping with food, bike parking, getting waivers signed, etc.  Some volunteer jobs will only take less than an hour!  Please call or email Andy at 456-3469 x 8#  (andy@marinbike.org) if you can help.  For more information about the event (including the ride route), please see our website at http://www.marinbike.org/Events/NS-Greenway-2006/.

5. MCBC NEEDS A TIDY PERSON
Volunteer to help to keep our office clean!

Here at the MCBC office, everyone is busy as a bee. So we often don’t get around to the simple housekeeping chores that a for-profit would usually contract out. We’re looking for a volunteer to help out.

We are looking for someone who can volunteer to come to our office once every couple of weeks for about an hour to do cleanup: vacuuming, cleaning the kitchen, and taking out the trash. If you’ve never been here for a visit, it’s a fairly small office—about 1000 square feet—so the time involved is minimal. The work will earn you satisfaction, good karma, and tremendous gratitude from the whole staff.

If you can help us, please contact Bob Trigg at 415-456-3469 x3#, or bob@marinbike.org. Thanks!

Send resume, cover letter and three references to Safe Routes to Schools, P.O. Box 201, Forest Knolls, CA 94933 or to wendi@marinbike.org

Bicycling is blissful, especially when you're riding toward Harmony. Bike to Harmony is a fully supported bicycle ride from San Francisco to the 2006 Harmony Festival in Santa Rosa, voted by readers of the North Bay Bohemian as the "Best Festival in Sonoma County" for the past 13 years.
