At the Corte Madera Town Center mall (above the "Good Guys" store)
The Marin County Bicycle Coalition's action-packed annual membership meeting will take place on Monday, April 5 at 6:30 PM. This meeting will be held at the Corte Madera Community Room, at the Corte Madera Town Center mall (above the "Good Guys" store). This membership meeting is open to the public, and marks the six-year anniversary of the MCBC. The agenda includes the following:
- Election of MCBC Board Members: The annual membership meeting includes elections for the Board of Directors. Each candidate will have three minutes to provide a statement for their candidacy. Votes will be taken by written ballot, and announced later that evening.
- Reports on Town Progress: Over the past year, the MCBC has formed "Local Chapters" in eight of Marin County's local cities and towns. Hear a short "report back" about what is taking place in each town, such as the new bicycle stencils in San Anselmo, efforts to improve cycling safety in West Marin, and plans for the opening of the Cal Park Hill Tunnel that will connect San Rafael and Larkspur.
- "Improving Cycling in Your Town" Workshop: MCBC's Director of Planning, Eric Anderson, along with leaders from each town in Marin, will facilitate a workshop process where meeting attendees will sit at tables with fellow residents of their respective cities and towns. The groups will be provided with large maps of their community and asked to mark-up their top priorities for bicycle improvements, and to answer questions as to how to make each of their communities the best town for bicycling in the county.
Marin County Bicycle Coalition is a non-profit membership organization that was founded in April of 1998. The MCBC promotes safe bicycling for everyday transportation and recreation and encourages the installation of bicycle infrastructure, sharing the road, and providing safe routes to schools. The organizational goal is for 20% of all transportation trips to be made by walking or bicycling by the year 2020. MCBC promotes bicycling to decrease traffic congestion, improve health, benefit the environment, increase transportation choices, and to create more livable communities.
