Cycle to Saturn
Meet the "Saturn Cyclists" at a Free Event
Friday, September 13, 2002, 6-8 PM
535 East Francisco Boulevard, San Rafael
On Friday, September 13, [2002] the public is invited to a free party with the Saturn Cycling pro bicycle racing team which will be competing over the weekend at the San Rafael Cycling Classic and the San Francisco Grand Prix. All 10 men and five women with the Saturn Cycling Team will be at the event to meet and greet the public.
The "Cycle to Saturn" event will take place from 6-8 PM at Saturn of Marin's headquarters, 535 East Francisco Boulevard in San Rafael. Saturn will move all of their cars out of the front lot for the event, hosting a barbeque and bicycle displays.
Come meet the men and woman from our Saturn Cycling Team! Saturn will have the Inter-active Cyber Cycles available. This will provide you with the opportunity to get a feel for what it's like to be competing like one of the Saturn Cyclist. Racers will also be available to sign autographs.
In addition, Saturn will hold a raffle to benefit two non-profit organizations: Marilyn's Fund, administered by Marin General Hospital, which provides small grants to help breast cancer patients; and the Marin County Bicycle Coalition's Share the Road Program, which educates cyclists, pedestrians and motorists on the need and means for sharing our public roadways.
Earlier in the day, the Saturn Cycling Team in connection with Marin County Bicycle Coalition will be visiting some of our local schools in the Safe Routes to Schools program to help promote "Cycling to Health and Harmony." Health -- how cycling to school or to a local park is a fun way to keep our bodies well maintained. Harmony -- how cyclists and automobiles can share our public roadways, co-existing in a courteous and safe manner.
Also participating in this event will be Summit Bikes. Summit Bikes will display the latest cycling equipment, featuring the Greg LeMond Touring bikes.
