The MCBC Bicycle Savings Calculator
If you ditched the car and switched to the bike, how much could you save?
To find out, use one of our Bicycle Savings Calculators below. Our figures are based on 52 weeks in a year (implying 260 work days), and subtract nine for public holidays, 20 for vacation and sick days, and 11 for business travel, miscellaneous, etc. You then have 220 days of commuting annually.
Enter only numeric data (no dollar signs, please).

Switch from the Bus/Ferry to the Bike - Do you ride mass transit? Are you thinking about riding your bike to work instead? This is the calculator for you. Fill in the number of legs you'll bike commute (note that you might do two in one day), the fare, and any incidental expenses (like a latte, muffin, or Clif bar) you'd accrue on your bike but not on mass transit. Then click the Calculate button to see your potential savings.
Leave the Car at Home Plan - This is the calculator for you if you plan to ride your bike instead of driving. Enter the expense information (gas, toll, and parking), and the number of days you'll commute by bike. Then click the Calculate button to see your potential savings.
Divorce Your Car Plan - This is the calculator for you if you plan to go car-free. It allows for expenses for mass transit on days you don't bike (which are subtracted out of your savings), and the savings from cancelling your auto insurance policy. Enter the expense information (gas, toll, and parking), the number of days you'll commute by bike, your insurance costs, and mass transit fare (for those non-bike days). Then click the Calculate button to see your potential savings.
