Who can fix the problem I found?

Use your Marin Bicycle Map or the Marin County Jurisdictions Map to see which jurisdiction the problem lies in.

• Road condition reports must be made to the correct jurisdiction's Department of Public Works (DPW) - all are listed below.
  • Note street addresses and/or mileage marker signs (if they exist) when reporting hazards.
  • Take a photograph of the hazard to share with department staff, if possible.
• Off-street multiuse path issues are more typically under the jurisdiction of the local Parks and Recreation Department.

Contacting the wrong DPW will not get your concern addressed, since they do not forward messages. Confusion often arises near the borders of jurisdictions; sometimes no one claims responsibility for repairs in such places. If you find an area for which no one claims responsibility, please let MCBC know.

The list below provides telephone numbers and email addresses for the County of Marin (overseeing unincorporated areas), all towns and cities (the incorporated areas), Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA), and Caltrans (state roads). The email addresses appear as a link on each contact name below, and will either take you to a direct email or to a web page with a form you can submit. MCBC will be cc'd automatically on all emails except those sent using a web page form.

Please be specific that you are requesting maintenance (ie. filling a pothole, sweeping road shoulders, repairing cracks, etc.) and clearly identify the location of the problem (ie. "the pothole is on the northbound lane of Steep Hill Road, along the stretch between the Filler Up Bar and West Avenue"). Note the street addresses and/or mileage marker signs (if they exist). Public staff are usually quite busy and will respond better to your request if you include courtesies like "please" and "thank you". Also, take a photograph of the hazard to share with department staff, if possible.
