The Village Peddler

Village PeddlerThe Village Peddler Bike Shop was opened 33 years ago, 200 yards from its present location, on Magnolia Avenue in Larkspur. It was a small, homey shop that was known for the BMX bikes, ten-speeds and touring bikes that were the staples of the 1970s. The shop was reputed at one time to have had a blind mechanic who fixed everything by feel and sound, even truing wheels that way. In 1988 when the popularity of mountain biking was skyrocketing, the Peddler outgrew its old space and moved to its current location at 1161 Magnolia Ave.

Throughout its history, the shop has always been known as a place friendly to all types of cyclists: They will work on anything with pedals and wheels, and believe that any bike that can be made to function has intrinsic value as something that can provide a rare combination of pleasure, exercise and transportation.

Since 1994 Village Peddler has sponsored Elite racing teams that have raced bicycles around the entire United States and as far away as Australia. In 1996 Village Peddler had one of the 32 UCI Professional cycling teams in the world. They still co-sponsor an Elite Cycling Team of eleven Category 1 riders as well as a local development squad of younger riders and a women’s team.

Village Peddler carries several quality lines of bicycles including Specialized, Santa Cruz, Litespeed, Gary Fisher, LeMond, Moots, Electra, Felt, and Bianchi. They will give expert service and repair to any make and model of bike. For fifteen years they have professionally fit bicycles to their riders for comfort, efficiency and performance. As bikes have become more complicated and technologically advanced, it has become more important than ever to know a good bike shop. Village Peddler can sort out the latest innovations and explain or debunk them for the layman, and has mechanics who can work on the complex disc brake and suspension systems that make the current crop of bikes so much fun to ride. Give them a call at (415) 461-3091 or visit online at http://www.villagepeddler.com/ to get your bicycle in good hands!
