Mill Valley Bicycle Registration Event – Day 1

Please join the Mill Valley Police Department on Saturday, August 20 and Sunday, August 21 for a Bicycle Registration Event at the Mill Valley Depot Plaza. The best way to track a stolen bike or to identify the owner of a found bike, is through the bicycle’s serial number. However, most people do not have this information stored anywhere.

Bike theft is an increasing problem in the county. In order to deter theft and to help the MVPD match recovered bicycles to their owners, the Mill Valley Police Department will be holding a Bicycle Registration Event. Having your bicycle information on file will help if your bicycle is ever stolen or lost. By participating in the Registration Event, you will assist law enforcement in matching recovered bikes to their rightful owners.

The event is open to all Mill Valley residents. Simply bring your bike to the Plaza either day between 10 AM and 2 PM, or bring a photo of your bike with your bicycle’s make, model, and serial number.

If you are unable to attend, simply download the registration form.

Send completed forms to aalbert@cityofmillvalley.org.

Bike Tips:

  • Know your bike’s serial number and write it down.
  • Store some recent photos of your bicycle on your computer or phone.
  • Lock your bicycle when you are not around (even if it is on a car’s bicycle rack).
  • Never leave your bike unattended for an excessive amount of time.
  • Lock your bike to a fixed object in a visible area.
  • Use bicycle U-locks, which are harder to cut than wire locks.
  • Lock your bike frame and one wheel to the bike rack.
  • Always report the theft to the police as soon as possible.
