Bike to Work Day 2018

Bike to Work Day 2018 is revving up!

As you know, May is National Bike Month and Thursday, May 11, is the Bay Area’s 23rd Annual Bike to Work Day. Riders will roll out en masse to celebrate a car-free commute, experiencing the joys and benefits of bicycling to work, school, and for local errands.

We’ve already told you to check that chain, pump up those tires, let your office mates know that your bike will be next to your desk that day… so you should be ready to ride!  Here are a couple last-minute reminders:

Find Your Energizer Station (check back later for 2018 stations)

Energizer stations will be set up throughout Marin; there will be Energizer Super Stations hosted by MCBC staff and volunteers. Stations are open from 6:30-9:00 AM (Vista Point 5:30 to 9:00 AM) for participants to grab a quick bite.

You can be a part of this – either by using your bike (or even your feet) or by volunteering to support your fellow riders.  You can also download the 2017 Bike to Work Day poster for your office or work place.

Nominate Your Marin County  2018 Cycling Champion!

Bike Commuter of the Year nominations open March 12. Recognize a cyclist in your community that is committed to making every day “Bike to Work Day”.   Please share his or her story by letting us know how they incorporate the many health and economic benefits of bicycling into everyday life.

Don’t wait do it now!    Tell us in (200 words or less) why they deserve the Marin County Bike Commuter of the Year Award!  All entries must include the nominee’s Name, Email, and County. This year’s winner will receive cool gifts!  All nomination entries must be submitted by April 3.

Take Part in the Team Bike Challenge and Company Bike Challenge

Team Bike Challenge registration opened April 1st. The Challenge begins Monday, May 1, and runs through Wednesday, May 31.  To be a part of this morale-increasing event, simply recruit anywhere from one to five friends and form a team. Then, simply pedal to work, errands, or school.  Your team will earn points for each day any team member rides.  Team members do not have to ride together.  The team with the most points at the end of the month wins a grand prize and more! You could still enter today!

Ready to roll? Learn more about the Team Bike Challenge including rules, deadlines for logging your rides and mileage, and cyclist category descriptions.

The Team Bike Challenge app is finally here! Now you’ll be able to log your miles, track your progress, check the competition — all from your phone. You can download it through the website or by going to the App Store or Google Play and searching for teambikechallenge.
